Way Out West's "Peter Pan" Sells Out Three Straight Shows

SIDNEY - The Elks Lodge in Sidney was the hot spot in Cheyenne County Friday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon as the Way Out West Theater performed "Peter Pan" to three sold out crowds over the weekend.

Cindy Bartling, President of the Way Out West Board of Directors said on Sunday that they had sold out all three shows, and on Sunday extra chairs had to be brought in to accommodate the overflow crowd. "The most we've had before at a show was about 80 people, and we got over 150 on Friday and Saturday nights, and about 185 today," she said.

The play itself is an adaptation of the novel by J.M Barrie, and it tells the story of the Darling children and their adventures with Peter Pan, the boy who never grows up. A robust cast covered all of the characters from the novel, from Tinkerbell to the Lost Boys. Duncan Carrasco starred as Peter Pan, with Auriella Walters as Wendy, Zach Schumacher as Michael and Tucker Hardin as John. Madi Packer played Tinker Bell and Cayden Carrasco portrayed the villain, Captain Hook.

The crowds thoroughly enjoyed the adaptation and the Elks Lodge set up lent itself well to the production. Way Out West Community Theatre is a member of the Nebraska Association of Community Theaters and American Association of Community Theatres.
