Nebraska Halts Wyoming 6-Man Football Win Streak
Nebraska quarterback Noah Eggleston, a senior graduate of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller High School connected for two touchdown passes in the first quarter, a third in the third quarter and a fourth in the final frame. The game was never in doubt as the Nebraska offense was able to move the ball effectively and score, while the defense shut down Wyoming for most of the game.
Leading the Nebraska defense was Nebraska 6-Man Defensive Player of the Year Luke Kasten, a recent graduate from Potter-Dix High School. Kasten was a force on defense, disrupting the Wyoming passing attack and shutting down any runs that came near him. It is estimated that Kasten made half of all the Nebraska tackles in the game. Kasten, a multi-sport standout in all four years of his Potter-Dix High School career, is known for his explosiveness on offense, but on defense his 6' 3" frame and outstanding speed disrupts offensive schemes and creates havoc in the backfield. Kasten blitzed the Wyoming passing game, causing overthrows and desperation heaves as he chased whoever had the ball all around the backfield. Chandler Page of Parkview Christian took the bulk of the running chores for Nebraska, and he cut through the Wyoming defense effectively, scoring touchdowns of 43 and 12 yards. Nebraska did a good job getting all their players involved, with scores by Dylan Naslund of Cody-Kilgore, Carson Glunz of Wallace and Andy Maloley of Pawnee City.
Nebraska broke Wyoming's three game winning streak in the Battle of the Boarder with their 52-to-16 victory. Although this year's game was lopsided, the teams are now tied in victories with six each.
