Traffic Jam on Illinois Street Noted by Google Maps
The weather may not have been ideal, but it did not put a damper on the festivities of Cruise Night on Friday. A long line of cars, many classic and historical, cruised up and down Illinois Venue down to Ft. Sidney road and back, playing old-style cruising music on their radios while waving to the many that had braved the rains to participate in the event. The traffic jam was so significant that Google Maps showed the tie-up on their popular mapping application.
There were hotdogs, burgers, sodas and all kinds of treats for attendees to enjoy as they watched and waved at the vehicles as they trundled down Sidney's main street, just like they did back in the 1950's and 60's. The Fox Theater got into the spirit by showing the the James Dean classic, "Rebel Without A Cause".
Although many did not bring out their prized cars in the rain, there were plenty of unique cars and sights to see all night. It was a night of nostalgia and fun for all involved, and a little rain did not ruin the fun for all who participated.
