Sidney senior John Beier shot an 86 then an 82 to end up +24 for the Class B NSAA Golf Championship Tournament at Monument Shadows Golf Course last week, earning him 41st place overall. Senior Jaeden Dillehay shot an 88 then an 85 to finish +29 and in 55th place overall in the Tournament. Although the results were not quite as good as hoped, the pair were able to achieve the season's goal; qualifying for the State Tournament.
The team from York won top honors, with a total to par gross of +17, a good measure ahead of runner-up Norris, with a +25 total par to gross score. Scottsbluff took third place overall with a +55 total par to gross score.
Individually, two play off holes were needed to determine a champion, and it was Beatrice senior Treyton Baehr, with a round of 70 and a round of 74 who tied with Norris senior Travis Tilford's two rounds of 72. Baehr was able to earn the tie breaker on the second hole of the play off, earning the Class B State Title. Tilford was runner-up, and Norris junior Carson Thurber placed third with a round of 73 and a round of 75, just one stroke behind the leaders.
Other notable finishes included Ogallala junior Caleb Castillo in 12th place with a two-round score of 154, tied with Scottsbluff junior Thomas Dredla's two-round score of 154. Ogallala's team tied for 8th place overall.
