The 39th West Nebraska All-Star Volleyball game and 45th annual West Nebraska All-Star Football game will both be held June 10 in Scottsbluff. The volleyball game will be played at 2 p.m. at WNCC's Cougar Palace, and the football game will be played at 7 p.m. at Bearcat Stadium. Proceeds from the games will benefit local charitable and non-profit organizations.
The teams are divided into East and West and are made up of seniors, with Cheyenne's County's selections playing for the West Teams. Potter-Dix Head Football Coach Dale Frerichs will coach the West Team in the football game. The athletes were nominated by their schools and then selected by the All-Star coaches to participate.
This year, a number of local athletes were selected to play in the game, and are eligible to be selected for scholarships made possible by the family of Richard Slicker. All of the athletes will compete on the "West" teams in their respective sports. For Football, the athletes selected were Austin Roelle - Sidney, Justin Ernest and Jakob Kruse – Leyton and Luke Kasten – Potter-Dix. The will be coached by Frerichs, who will be assisted by Dillon Broussard of Mitchell, Danny O'Boyle of Gering and Jeremy Reimers of Bridgeport.
For Volleyball, athletes selected and playing for the "West" team are Reese Riddle and Rheagan Stanley, both of Sidney. Scottbluff's Leslie Foral is the Head Coach of the West team, assisted by Tabitha Unzicker of Bayard.
