Tuesday, April 11, Mitchell High School hosted their Invitational at Scenic Knolls Golf Course. The challenging course, and a hot day, got the best of most of the area school's golfers, and the Sidney team managed a fifth place finish with a 347, edged out for fourth by a single stroke by Alliance with a 346.
For the Sidney squad, John Beier had the best round, ending with an 81 to earn ninth place in the individual standings. Noah Shaddick of Scottsbluff took top honors individually with a round of 74, followed by runner-up Cael Peters of Mitchell with a 75. Jace Nelson of Gordon Rushville took third with a round of 77.
Sidney's other finishers were led by Jaeden Dillehay's strong back nine surge to end with a round of 83, John Meza with a round of 91, and Logan Johnson and Cole Hanley both finishing with rounds of 92.
Creek Valley and Potter-Dix both sent their teams to the competition, and both finished far out of the top running in the team event, with Creek Valley finishing with a 474 and Potter-Dix finishing with a 479. For the Storm, Seth Wilber led with a round of 96 followed by Talon Seet with a round of 119. Jaxson Wickham shot a 127, Trevor Brown shot a 132 and Hunter Isenbart shot a 162 . For Potter-Dix, Trevor Williams led with a round of 91, Landon Gasseling finished with a round of 106, Josh Kasten shot a 120 and Gunnar Oleson shot a 139.
