Area Teams Compete At Tri-State Meet in Chappell

Potter-Dix Boys Take Second Place

Creek Valley High School hosted the annual Tri-State Meet, and area schools all competed on a sunny day with a warm breeze. Spectators and competitors that did not liberally apply sunscreen, soon found that they had a good sunburn by the beginning of the afternoon.

The competition was dominated by the St. Patrick's team out of North Platte, with the girls squad taking first place with 128 points and the boys squad also taking first with 131.5 points. Paxton finished as runner-up for the girls followed by South Platte. Potter-Dix finished as runner-up for the boys with 88 points, followed by Paxton in third place.

There were many outstanding performances by the area athletes. Potter-Dix senior Luke Kasten won the 100 Meters with a time of 11.59, placed second in the 200 Meters, was on the second place 4x100 Meter Relay team and placed fifth in Discus. Senior James Pease placed second in the 3200 Meters and third in the 1600 Meters. Freshman Dylan Tabor won the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 44.95 and placed second in the 110 Meter Hurdles. Tabor also finished second in the Triple Jump and was part of the second place 4x100 Meter Relay team. Junior Brayden Kasten placed fifth in the 400 Meters, sixth in the 100 Meters and was part of the second-place 4x100 Meter Relay team. Sophomore Dawson Monheiser placed second in the Shot Put and seventh in Discus.

For the Coyote girls, senior Lily Tabor took first in Pole Vault, clearing 7" 6", followed in second place by Potter-Dix sophomore Taylah Wilson. Tabor also placed third in Shot Put. Freshman Cayli Spencer placed third in the 1600 Meters and freshman Kennedy Knoll placed third in the 3200 Meters. Senior Jayden Shoemaker placed fourth in High Jump.

The Leyton boys were led by senior Cort Rummel's second place finish in the 100 Meters and first place finish as part of the 4x400 Meter Relay team. Seniors Justin Ernest and Chance Carter finished second and third in the 400 Meters, were part of the first-place 4x400 Meter Relay team, and Ernest also placed second in the 800 Meters. Freshman Alec Watchorn placed second in the 110 Meter Hurdles followed by senior Kaleb Borges in third, and Borges also placed second in the 300 Meter Hurdles and fourth in Triple Jump. Alec Watchorn placed fourth in High Jump and senior Dawson Juelfs placed fifth in Pole Vault.

For the Lady Warriors, sophomore Zaili Benish won the 400 Meters with a time of 1:03.78, the 110 Meter Hurdles at 17.31 and the 300 Meter Hurdles at 48.51. Senior Axi Benish won the 1600 Meters with a time of 5:57.86. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Claire Watchorn, Macey Roelle, Shawnee Gamble and Zaili Benish placed second, Claire Watchorn placed third in the 200 Meters and Discus. Macey Roelle placed fifth in Triple Jump.

For Creek Valley, the boys had freshman Zander Polk finish eighth in the 1600 Meters and Long Jump, while for the girls junior Samantha Marin won the 3200 Meters with a time of 14:54.75 and placed fourth in the 1600 Meters and junior Anna Spiers placed second in the 800 Meters.

Sidney sent their junior varsity team to compete, and for the boys, junior Vernon Graham placed second in Long Jump and third in the 200 Meters and sophomore Jashawn Davenport placed third in Long Jump and fifth in the 800 Meters.
