Leyton Teams Place Sixth

Cool temperatures with bright sunshine greeted the participants of the Bayard CD Invitational Track & Field Meet Saturday morning at Bayard High School. The Potter-Dix Coyote squads and the Leyton Warrior squads traveled Saturday morning to compete, and although as teams they did not fare very well, a few strong individual performances highlighted the day.
For Potter Dix's boy's team, notable performances included senior Luke Kasten placing second in the 200 Meters at 24.75 and third in the 100 Meters at 11.58. Freshman Dylan Tabor placed fourth in the 300 Meter Hurdles and sixth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 35' 7".
For the Potter-Dix girl's team, freshman Cayli Spencer placed second in the 1600 Meters with a time of 6"46.58, senior Lily Tabor placed fourth in Shot Put with a throw of 33' 4", and sophomore Taylah Wilson placed fifth in Pole Vault, clearing 7'6". Lily Tabor Kallie Crossman placed sixth and seventh clearing 7'0".
The Leyton boy's team had senior Cort Rummel take fourth in the 100 Meters at 11.66, and in the 400 Meters senior Justin Ernest placed fourth at 53.73 and senior Chance Carter placed sixth at 55.23. In the 110 Meter Hurdles, freshman Alec Watchorn placed fourth at 17.81 and junior Kaleb Borges placed sixth at 18.78. In the 300 Meters, Watchorn placed fifth at 47.30. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Cort Rummel, Chance Carter, Justin Ernest and Kaleb Borges placed second at 47.25. The 4x400 Meter Relay team of Alec Watchorn, Cort Rummel, Chance Carter and Justin Ernest placed second at 3:44.24.
For Leyton's girl's team, sophomore Shawnee Gamble placed second at 13.31 in the 100 Meters and sophomore Zaili Benish placed second in the 400 meters at 1:02.66, a personal best time for her, and won the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 18.05 and the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 50.30. Senior Axi Bensih placed third in the 3200 Meters at 13:52.08. The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Claire Watchorn, Macey Roelle, Shawnee Gamble and Zaili Benish took second place at 53.57.
The team competion was won by Southeast for the girls and Lingle-Fort Laramie for the boys, with Bayard the runner up in girls and Burns the runner-up in boys. The Potter-Dix boys team placed ninth overall with 26 points, and the Potter-Dix girls ended in tenth place with 15 points. Both Leyton squads placed sixth, with the girls earning 50 points and the boys 32. Both teams were next slated to compete at the Twilight Storm Invite in Chappell on April 11.
