Area Student Athletes Named to All-Conference Teams and Academic Honors

Cheyenne County's high school athletic teams had much success over the winter, and many student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding performances and named to All-Conference teams along with other honors.

Leyton's Lady Warrior Basketball team, after their successful season with a 16-and-6 record and State Tournament appearance, had a number of athletes named to the MAC All-Conference teams. Sophomores Zaili Benish and Shawnee Gamble were both named to the First Team, and sophomore Sydney Fortune was named to the Second Team. Zaili Benish was also named to the Omaha World Herald's second team while Gamble and Fortune were named as Honorable Mentions. Zaili Benish was also selected by Nebraska Prep Zone as Class D2 Offensive Player of the Year.

For the Leyton boys, senior Justin Ernest was named to the MAC All-Conference First Team, senior Cort Rummel was named to the Second Team and junior Jonathan Kruse was selected as Honorable Mention.

Potter-Dix's Coyote Boys Basketball team also had members selected to the MAC All-Conference teams. Senior Luke Kasten was named to the First Team, senior Zach Rotert was named to the Second Team and junior Brayden Kasten was selected as Honorable mention.

For the Potter-Dix girls, senior Kailey Nicklas and junior Madison Williamson were named as MAC All-Conference Honorable Mentions.

For the Creek Valley Boys Basketball team, senior Seth Wilber was named to the MAC All-Conference Second Team and for the girls and junior Ella Whiting was selected as Honorable Mention.

For Sidney's Lady Raider Basketball team, seniors Reese Riddle and Rheagan Stanley and sophomore Kayla Westby were named to the Western Conference All-Conference First Team and juniors Payton Schrotberger and Katie Ramsey were selected as Honorable Mentions. Additionally Reese Riddle was named by Nebraska Prep Zone as Most Improved Player, and Head Coach Tyler Shaw was named Coach of the Year.

For the Red Raiders Boys team, seniors Jaeden Dillehay and Micah Schneider and junior Isak Doty were named to the Western Conference All-Conference First Team. Seniors Jacob Dowse and Koleman Kaiser were selected as Honorable Mentions.

The Nebraska School Activities Association also announced their Winter NCPA Academic All State Awards. For Creek Valley, senior Hunter Martinez was named for Basketball, sophomore Ava Fraass was named for Basketball, junior Ella Whiting was named for Basketball and senior Ella Ningen was named for Speech.

For Leyton, senior Justin Ernest was named for Basketball, senior Cort Rummel was named for Basketball and Speech, sophomore Zaili Benish was named for Basketball, sophomore Shawnee Gamble was named for Basketball and sophomore Lila McLaughlin was named for Speech.

For Potter-Dix, senior Luke Kasten was named for Basketball, senior Zach Rotert was named for Basketball, senior Tyenne Berner was named for Basketball, senior Kailey Nicklas was named for Basketball, senior Jayden Shoemaker was named for Speech and senior Trevor Williams was named for Speech.

For Sidney, senior Koleman Kaiser was named for Basketball, senior Micah Schneider was named for Basketball, senior Reese Riddle was named for Basketball, and senior Rheagan Stanley was named for Basketball. Krishnaraj Ganesan was named for Speech, Aspen Gurr was named for Speech, Patrick McCartney was named for Wrestling and Jaydn Cottam was named for Wrestling.
