Leyton's Lady Warrior Girls Basketball team improved their season record to 13-and-5 with two more wins over the week, on the road against Creek Valley and home against Hyannis.
On Friday the girls traveled to Chappell, and quickly got ahead of the Lady Storm and kept scoring, while their defense frustrated the Lady Storm offense. Leyton built a sizable lead by the half and cruised to a 68-to-21 victory. Sophomore Zaili Benish led the scoring with 23 points and sophomore Shawnee Gamble added 21 points in the win.
Leyton then hosted Hyannis on Saturday, and after a tight first quarter that had the teams knotted at 17-to-17, Leyton was able to put some distance between the teams in the second quarter, going into the half up by 7 at 36-to-29. Leyton then put away the Hyannis squad in the third period, scoring 17 points against just 6 to then cruise to a 63-to-47 victory. Benish again led the scoring with 27 points. The girls travel on Thursday to match up Garden County.
