On Tuesday, January 17, Potter-Dix senior Jayden Shoemaker signed a commitment letter to attend University of Nebraska-Kearney and compete on the Swimming Team. Shoemaker has been an outstanding multi-sport athlete for the Coyotes during her high school tenure, but also has been competitively swimming for many years.
Shoemaker, along with her younger sisters, competes for the Sidney Stingrays Swim Club and set a dozen records during their regular season. Her talent and dedication had caught the eyes of the UNK coaching staff, and Shoemaker found the perfect match for her goals in life.
"I chose UNK because they are invested in my success both athletically and academically. They understand that I am a student-athlete, and they really focus on that, which is so important to me. UNK is a supportive yet challenging environment. The swim program is very successful, with the team winning a majority of their meets and many team members setting records," said Shoemaker.
She plans on majoring in Exercise Science, then get a Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy with certification in Aquatics. She plans on then returning to some part of rural Nebraska and practice and introduce Aquatic Physical Therapy.
