Delta Dawn When the Light Comes On: Week Two

"Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there I am in the midst of you." Matthew 18:19. No matter the question or circumstance, the answer is in the Bible. Make it first and final Authority! Tom, Nola and Pastor Bill met to do just that.

Pastor Bill noted that Kimray was not gleaning the right fruit (attributes) from its employees. He quoted Matthew 7:18-20. "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit." Then he cited Proverbs 18:9, "He who is slothful in his work is a brother to a great destroyer." Pastor Bill looked up, "A root of laziness, then, would produce the attribute of absenteeism, right?"

Nola added, "Statistics show that 88% of workers dislike their jobs because they are not acknowledged as being a person of worth. Some 62% leave because they are not recognized for their contribution to company efforts. Another 42% exit because they are not given a part in the company's future growth". Nola continued, "A person stays on the job because their input is requested and/or used, 'office politics' are discouraged and employees are valued as vital company resources. Wages are a smaller consideration."

Nola clarified, "Everyone comes from certain cultural experiences which develop morals and ideals. Some psychological, intellectual, emotional (coping devices) and social attitudes are not correct, or even healthy. An early belief system spurs behavior. When attitudes are adverse, adverse behavior follows. One's life experience makes them unique, but we can redirect any liabilities into assets."

Tom recalled Garman's example of not smoking in order to be a better mentor, so many years ago. He now saw his own attitudes, beliefs and behaviors exposed!

Pastor Bill added, "Moral fruit from cultural, generational roots is not always desired, even by a wayward person." A plan developed. Tom researched trade papers for pointers. Nola, and her assistant, reviewed resume's and interviewed the men. Pastor Bill found love messages in I Corinthians 13; Galatians 5:22, 23

"Whatever you ask in My Name, that I will do, that My Father may be glorified in His Son [and sons]." John 14:13. Tom Hill, Kimray CEO, groaned, "I just want someone to arrive for work on time and stay on the job longer than three days!"

Pastor Bill smiled, "We have a new man at church. I marvel at him. He's been out of work 6 months, but comes in to serve, promptly, does a good job and doesn't leave until the work is finished. The couple expects a baby, soon. May I suggest Homer come and apply at Kimray?"

Tom and Nola agreed. Homer was hired. "A man's gift make room for him and brings him before great (enabling, resourceful) men." Proverbs 18:16

 Next Week: Litmus Test.
