Peetz's Bulldog Basketball team started 2023 on the right foot with a big win over Weldon Valley on Friday, but then stumbled against a tough Merino team on Saturday.
The boys traveled to Weldona on Friday, and started off the game hot, banging down shots and driving inside to score against a porous Weldon Valley defense. After building a 40-to-15 lead at the half, Peetz added another 25 points in the second half to finish off the Warriors by a final of 65-to-34.
Freshman standout Rhyder Bane led the scoring for Peetz with 19 points in the win.
On Saturday, the Bulldogs traveled to Merino for a matchup against a tough Rams squad, and quickly found themselves overwhelmed by an offensive onslaught. The Rams scored early and often, and put the Bulldogs out of the game quickly. Merino took the 40-point victory 62-22, dropping Peetz to 3-and-4 on the season.
