After a 2021-22 season that had the Lady Storm struggle and notch just two wins, Creek Valley's opening loss to the Hyannis Lady Longhorns did have bright spots, the most being that the Lady Storm kept the game close and were able to move the ball well on offense.
With only one senior on the roster, Elizabeth Whiting, the Lady Storm are relying on their younger players to provide spark and athleticism this season, and in their first game they played well.
The 39-to-29 final score did not end up in the Creek Valley girls' favor, but it did show that they could keep up with a decent team in Hyannis. On Tuesday, the Creek Valley girls were scheduled to host Arthur County, a middle-of-the-pack team last year that have opened their season with two losses.
If the Lady Storm can play with as much energy as they did against Hyannis and move the ball inside, they could have a good chance of getting an early win in the season, which would provide a boost for their confidence.
After their matchup with Arthur County, they will have a tougher road ahead, however so far early in this season, most of their opponents have under-performed. A good barometer to see how much the Lady Storm have improved is going to be their matchup against Leyton on December 20.
