Ducks Unlimited Seeking To Revive Sidney Chapter

Ducks Unlimited, the worldwide waterfowl conservation organization, is looking to revive the dormant Sidney Chapter, which was a flourishing chapter here in Cheyenne County just a few years ago. With the sale of Cabela's, however, many DU members have moved out of the area or let their memberships lapse, leaving a need for a membership drive to revitalize the chapter.

Pat Boughman is the Senior Regional Director for Western Nebraska for Ducks Unlimited, and he was in town last week for a registration drive. He commented on how the Sidney Chapter was very popular not too long ago, and Ducks Unlimited is making a concerted effort to get the Sidney Chapter active.

Focused on waterfowl conservation, DU takes a continental, landscape approach to wetland conservation. Since 1937, DU has conserved nearly 15 million acres of waterfowl habitat in North America. DU works in all 50 states, and focuses its efforts on habitats most beneficial to waterfowl.

Ducks Unlimited has many events in Nebraska, and is looking to expand those events into the Sidney area. Besides waterfowl habitat conservation efforts, DU also offers dog training and shooting skills instruction as well as waterfowl research and identification.
