Peetz Rolls Past Weldon Valley, 56-18

Peetz's Bulldog Football team finished their regular season with a win on the road in Weldona Friday night against the Weldon Valley Warriors, 56-to-18. The win ends the Peetz season with a 3-and-5 record, and although playoff brackets had not been released at press time, the Bulldogs chances of qualifying for the post-season are very slim.

Friday's game started with Peetz receiving the opening kickoff and driving down the field and scoring first on a 24 yard run by freshman quarterback Rhyder Bayne for a 6-to-0 lead. Bayne then recovered an onside kick, and Peetz scored again on a 15 yard pass from freshman Logan Vallier to junior Noah Naegele to move the score to 12-to-0. With about five minutes left in the first quarter, Naegele scored again on a run, and then followed that up at the end of the period with another touchdown pass by Vallier to sophomore Collin Fehringer to give the Bulldogs a 25-to-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Weldon Valley finally got on the scoreboard in the second quarter with a touchdown run, but Peetz fired right back with a touchdown pass from Bayne to Naegele to move the score to 31-to-6. Vallier then threw another touchdown pass to freshman Patrick Moreno and followed up with another touchdown pass from Bayne to Naegele to go into the halftime break up 43-to-6, effectively putting the game away. Peetz added 13 more points in the third quarter while Weldon Valley had a touchdown in the third and fourth periods to wrap up the scoring.

Peetz's young team showed flashes of what they could develop into during the season, and Head Coach Scott Sorensen has a team that could very well be a contender for seasons to come with talented underclassmen like Rhyder Bayne and Logan Vallier. Peetz also expects to return some juniors for their senior season next year, giving the Bulldogs the firepower and experience for a successful season.
