Ingeborg Hare

Ingeborg Hare of Umatilla was born September 19, 1928 in Halle, Germany the daughter of Richard and Frieda (Fogle) Thomas. She passed away on Sunday October 16, 2022 in Kennewick, WA at the age of 94.

Ingeborg grew up and attended schools in Bremerhaven, Germany. During WWII she met Laurence Hare who was serving in the US Army. The couple were united in marriage in 1947 while he was serving in Germany.

The couple then returned to the United States and they renewed their vows in Waltham, MA. The couple lived in Sidney, Nebraska for many years where Laurence continued his career in the Army.

In 1967, the family moved to Hermiston, Oregon. They purchased a home in Umatilla in 1970 where she has resided for the past fifty-two years.

Ingeborg worked throughout her career in area restaurants and bars where she enjoyed sharing her quick wit with clients making them laugh.

Family was very important to Ingeborg. She loved being a grandma to her five grandchildren and a full time grandma to: Shawn, Erik and Stephanie She also enjoyed her long distant grandmother relationship with; Matthew and Patrick. She was meticulous in her home and yard upkeep and took great pride in her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laurence; daughter, Dee Mills; parents; and a brother, Heinz.

She is survived by a son, Richard (Cindy) O’Hare and their children Matthew and Patrick; three additional grandchildren, Shawn, Erik and Stephanie and six great grandchildren.

A private interment will be in Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of arrangements.
