Lady Raiders Down Chadron, Split At North Platte Triangular

Sidney's Lady Raider Volleyball team moved their record to 24-and-6, and put themselves in position to host the subdistricts, and possibly district final game, with the strength of their record. The Lady Raiders had three matches over the week, hosting Chadron on Tuesday October 11 and then traveling to North Platte for a triangular with the Lady Bulldogs and Kearney Catholic.

On Tuesday, the Lady Cardinals rolled into Sidney hoping to get a win against a Lady Raider squad that had beaten them three times already this season. The fourth time was not the charm, as Sidney was firing on all cylinders, putting away the Lady Cardinals in straight sets, 25-to-14, 25-to-15 and 25-to-18. Junior Karsyn Leeling had a great match, racking up 15 kills over the three sets while senior Rheagan Stanley had 12 digs and senior Reese Riddle had 27 assists in the win.

On Saturday, the Lady Raiders travelled to North Platte and opened against the 21-win Kearney Catholic Stars, and found themselves in a battle immediately. The Kearney Catholic team was strong and took the first set 25-to-22. Sidney tried to regroup in the second half but the Stars proved too much and took the second set 25-to-17 for the 2-to-0 match victory. Leeling again led the offense with 8 kills while sophomore Kayla Westby had 6 kills in the loss.

The struggling North Platte Lady Bulldogs gave the Lady Raiders a tough match, but the Sidney girls were able to take the match in straight sets 25-to-22 and 25-to-21. Leeling had 10 kills, junior Chloe Ahrens had 7 kills and freshman Kierra Schrader had 7 kills in the win. Stanley had another 11 digs and Riddle had 27 more assists in the victory.

Sidney was scheduled to close out their regular season schedule against Gering in Sidney on Tuesday.
