Warriors Shut Out By Broncos

Leyton Football Takes 42-0 Loss

Leyton’s Warrior Football team continued to struggle against division opponents, falling 42-to-0 Friday afternoon to the Mullen Broncos in Dalton. Leyton is now at 3-and-3 on the season, with all three losses coming from division opponents.

After a close first quarter that had the teams battling for offense and the Broncos taking an 8-to-0 lead, the Leyton defense was unable to contain the Mullen attack and surrendered 22 points in the second quarter to go into halftime trailing 30-to-0. Mullen added 12 more points and shut out Leyton in the second half to earn the 42-to-0 win.

Leyton senior quarterback Damyn Russ attempted 31 passes in the game, completing only 10 for 74 yards. Four Warriors rushed 18 times and only netted five yards in the loss. Senior Justin Ernest was able to reel in an interception as one of the few bright spots on the day for Leyton. The Warriors try to get back on the winning track on Friday when they travel to match up with the 5-and-1 Sandhills/Thedford Knights.
