Juli Burney to Present 'Those Who Laugh, Last'

Communication specialist, humorist and author Juli Burney takes the stage in Sidney at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

Burney will be on stage in the Sidney High School Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $13 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students (including Western Nebraska Community College) and children under 5 are free. Tickets will be available at the door.

Through her improvisational skills and storytelling ability, Burney will have the audience rolling in the aisles as they rediscover the joy in life and learn how to use their sense of humor to maintain a positive attitude, no matter how challenging the situation.

After 35 years as a college educator, when Burney was named “Teacher of the Year” six times by Doane College, now Doane University, she began a new career as a communication specialist, humorist and author. She makes an amazing connection with her audiences, and is able to entertain with the ability of a headlining comedian while motivating as a nationally renowned speaker. She has been honored as Nebraska Artist of the Year and received the Toastmasters' International Communication and Leadership Award. She has even been inducted into the Nebraska Navy as an Admiral.

Burney has worked in all 48 continental states and Canada, and has been commissioned by a variety of organizations from the National Endowment for the Arts to Fortune 500 companies where she developed training programs. In addition, she did consultant work for Cabela's when its headquarters were here in Sidney.

She has also been filmed for Showtime and HBO, along with making guest appearances on radio and television. Her humor is insightful, delightful, universal and enlightening. And her infectious attitude helps audiences discover their strengths, learn to celebrate differences and find joy and purpose in life.

As one audience member remarked, “Juli is likable, bright, quick and witty. She has an original sense of humor, has great timing and on top of it all is very funny. She makes you think, and she makes you feel good.”
