Sidney Red Raider Cross Country team had a busy week, with competitions at Bridgeport and McCook.
At the Run at the Rocks/Bridgeport Invite on Tuesday, both teams finished third, with the boys scoring 70 points and the girls at 75.
Freshman Daniel Hardin led the Sidney boys with a 24th place finish at 22:33.51 and sophomores Dillon Cagle and Kolton Wells finished 33rd and 34th respectively. Leyton senior Gabriel Tretter finished seventh with a time of 19:31.38. For the girls, junior Brooklyn Brandt finished 25th with a time of 28:41.96 and sophomore Rachel Ernst placed 27th and junior Alexis Welvart placed 28th.
At McCook, the boys placed sixth with 122 points, led by sophomore Noah Canas 13th place finish at 18:58.33. Junior Brendan Shepard and sophomore Jashawn Davenport finished 35 and 36 respectively. For the girls, the team placed fourth with 54 points, led by junior Talissa Tanquary in fourth place at 21:10.72. Senior Rheo Dykstra placed 15th while juniors Jenju Peters and Avery Lawson placed 22nd and 23rd.
