The Peetz community will be celebrating homecoming and For Peetz Sake Days, Friday, September 30 through October 1.
Homecoming week starts at Peetz schools with the theme “Bulldogs Through the Decades.” Monday is “Movie Stars of the Past,” Tuesday “Neon Day,” Wednesday “PJ Day,” Thursday “Decades” with each class encouraged to represent a specific decade. Friday is Spirit Day.
Friday's events start with a bake sale/craft sale in the Community Center from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. During that time, there will also be a hog roast meal provided by the Peetz Lions Club, Legion Auxiliary, Methodist Church, Sacred Heart Altar Society and Peetz Telephone Company beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until 7 p.m. or when food runs out.
A horseshoe tournament is also scheduled for 4:30 p.m.; a $5 entry fee and partners will be drawn. Please call or text Stephanie Barrett (970) 520-7124 or Caleb Barrett (970) 466-3915 to pre-register by September 27th in order to make brackets and pick teams prior to the day of play. Payouts will be given to first, second, and third place teams.
SPFYL football games are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (third and fourth grade), 6:30 p.m. (fifth and sixth grade) and a Community Pep Rally in Carlisle Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 1, starts with a Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Hall from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The DC Club Garage Sale will be in the Old Bus Barn from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
The Bake Sale/Craft Sale will return to the Community Center 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Parade entries line up at the west side of the high school at 9:15 for the 10 a.m. parade on Main Street. Games and activities are planned to take place at the practice field immediately after the parade.
School tours will be conducted from 10:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The Rocky Mountain Farmers Union will be offering root beer floats, diagonally across from the bus barn starting at about 10:30 a.m. A hamburger fry will be offered in the school cafeteria with seating in the small gym from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The homecoming football game against Fleming High School is scheduled for 1 p.m., including the crowning of Homecoming Royalty and recognition of Peetz Sake Parade Marshals at halftime.
At 3:30 p.m., the Peetz volleyball team will take the court against Fleming.Homecoming photos are scheduled for 8 p.m. The Student Council Homecoming Dance at the small gym is scheduled for 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Mud Country will be playing at the Hot Spot from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
