LINCOLN – The Nebraska Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (NEFB-PAC) has endorsed Kathy Wilmot of Beaver City. Wilmot is seeking election to represent District 7 on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
“Kathy is committed to being a strong, conservative voice who will advocate for Western Nebraska,” said Sherry Vinton, chair of NEBF-PAC and first vice president of Nebraska Farm Bureau.
“With her experience on the State Board of Education, we can trust Kathy will represent the best interests of taxpayers, families, farmers, and ranchers on the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.”
Wilmot, a sixth generation Nebraskan, and her husband, Wes, live near Beaver City. She received her graduate degree from the University of Nebraska. Wilmot served on the Nebraska State Board of Education for eight years, worked as a teacher, an Equal Opportunity Commission investigator, and as a training and accreditation manager for the Kansas Department of Corrections.
“It is vital that those leading the University have a strong grasp of its land grant mission and understand the important role research and extension plays in aiding Nebraska farmers and ranchers. With her long history of public service, Kathy is well connected to the needs of agriculture and the role the University of Nebraska plays in supporting our agriculture economy.” said Vinton.
The NEFB-PAC makes endorsements based on candidates’ positions on agriculture and rural issues and grassroots recommendations from County Farm Bureaus.
