Sidney's Lady Raider Golf team opens their season on Tuesday, August 23 at Hillside Golf Course as they host the annual Sidney Invitational, and expect the best of the Panhandle teams to have a strong season as they open their season.
First-year Head Coach Tyler Shaw is focused on improvement for the team and wants to make sure the girls are having fun and are relaxed as they compete.
Senior Aubree Larson, who qualified for the State Tournament last year, returns as the team's leader. The team has three returning players from last year's team, so Shaw will need to assess the freshman and sophomore players to fill holes in the team's starting line up.
Shaw is focused on steady improvement for the team, and Tuesday's competition should be a good start to the process, as the girls are playing on a familiar course. Shaw is focusing on minimizing the stress level and getting his players to keep relaxed while navigating the course.
The team has nine varsity meets this year, with Tuesday's outing being the only meet at home this year.
Tee-off is at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, and the team hopes a good number of supporters can come out to cheer them on.
