New Sidney Athletic Booster Club Announced

The young student can run like the Western Nebraska wind, but his family can’t afford proper track shoes. A female student shows the skills on a volleyball court seldom seen, yet she sits on the sidelines because she can’t afford the participation fee. Even more, the student athletes are ready, but the program needs help.

The Red Raiders Athletic Booster Club is available to help the athletic experience be as positive as possible. The purpose of the Booster Club is to support Raider athletics through fundraising, providing equipment, improving facilities, soliciting memberships, offering activities for members, promoting participation in athletics, encouraging attendance at athletic events and assisting the athletic director, coaches and administration. The Sidney Raider Athletic Booster Club supports 11 high school sports and seven junior high sports, according to the new Booster Club’s purpose statement.

“Our booster club is a little bit different,” said Board President Sarah Kaiser.

She said transparency is critical. Funding requests, grants, are made by coaches and student athletes.

“The idea is the coach has to bring at least two players to the meeting,” she said.

They will present their project before the board. The program is designed to get students public speaking experience as well as involvement in their team’s needs.

Fundraising by the Booster Club includes sponsorship. The top tier sponsorship, the Platinum Package, comes with a $10,000 donation. Perks include title sponsorship of the Homecoming football game, Senior Night Volleyball Game, Basketball game and halftime recognition, and Senior Night for wrestling. The top level of sponsorship will also include a business logo or family name on a 4’ x 6’ banner at Weymouth Field and on Booster Club Sponsor signage and the website. There will also be an autographed keepsake from the team of the sponsor’s choice, $400 in Raider gear allowance, VIP parking, seven VIP Athletic Passes and a free Popcorn Pass for all sports events.

Only one Platinum Package is available, and that has already been committed, according to Booster Club board president Sarah Kaiser.
