Delta Dawn When That Light Comes On

Week 25

First, let us glory in the God Who gave us Old Glory, the stars and stripes.  Her grandeur has endured through the most trying times our nation has ever faced;  One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all is still her standard.  Battered and tattered, she flew over Ft. McHenry, Gettysburg, the Alamo, Pearl Harbor, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and, of course, 9-11.

Military flag-folding ceremonies espouse Godly principles, and honor the original intent of our Founders who established these great United States of America.

The first fold symbolizes life.

The second fold symbolizes belief in eternal life.

The third fold honors and remembers the veteran departing our ranks, who gave his or her life for the defense of our country to attain peace throughout the world.

The fourth fold represents our weaker nature as American citizens trusting in God. It is Him we turn to in peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance.

The fifth fold recalls the words of Stephen Decatur, “Our country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right, but she is still our country, right or wrong.”

The sixth fold symbolizes the human spirit.  With our hearts we pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

The seventh fold honors our military, for it is through the armed forces that we protect our country, and our flag, against all enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of our Republic.

The eighth fold salutes the one who entered the valley of death, that we might see the light of day, and Gold Star mothers, for whom it flies on Mother’s Day.

The ninth fold applauds womanhood, whose faith, love, loyalty and devotion has molded the character of men and women who make this country great.

The 10th fold honors fathers who have dedicated his sons and daughters for the defense of our country from the time he or she was first born.

The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The 12th fold represents eternity, glorifying Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The 13th final fold, when completed, presents the stars uppermost, in a triangle reminding Americans of our national motto, “In God We Trust.”

“In the Name of our God, Jehovah Nissi, we will set up our banners.  May the Lord fulfill all your purpose. AMEN”.  Psalm 20:5.
