Delta Dawn When The Light Comes On Week 17

It may be said that time and chance happen to everyone.  James 1:8 says it differently, “… a double minded man (who says one thing, does another) is unstable in all his ways…” And, there are those who discern the times and chance (gamble) all they are and all they own, for the greatest of all commodities: FREEDOM.

Long before the U.S. Declaration of Independence was signed, a Continental Army formed.  You know their names: John Adams, Ben Franklin, John Glover, John Hancock, William Lee, Paul Revere, George Washington.  The Continental Congress denoted Washington as General in 1774.  Washington selected many men with wartime experience, men who served with him, in the French and Indian war.

Patriots, Sons of Liberty and others, were poorly shod, raggedly dressed, and inadequately armed to go against Britain’s expeditionary forces.  The elements were overpowering, especially in winter months.  But they had been reared on the Word of God, hated slavery and detested oppression.  They knew, well, all men are created equal.  To govern themselves was the prize they sought and fought for.

Among the independently wealthy was an intrepid group of cod fishermen from Marblehead, Massachusetts.  They sailed their own ships, trading with Spain and other entities.  King George II targeted them, specifically, with taxes to swell coffers of the Crown.  They launched the Boston Tea Party.  Their determined purpose to remain free from tyranny made them indispensable to the American Revolution.  Source: “The Indispensables”, Patrick K. Britain’s foe was Eternal Truth in the hands and mouths of those who wore military uniforms under their black ministerial robes. This ‘Black Robed Regiment’ included Jonas Clark, John Meulenberg, George Whitfield, Jonathan Edwards and others.  Teaching and preaching from the Bible, they sounded the alarm of British oppression.  They, also, had served in the French and Indian war and headed up hundreds of minutemen from their various congregations.

“No king but King Jesus!” cried these who had no right to vote, yet threw their fortunes, lives and influence into every aspect of a yet unborn nation.  An Unseen Force is evident in Patriots who finance their own journey into just government, today, as well.

“He who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, being a doer of the work …  this one will be blessed (exalted) in what he does.” James 1:25

Your family fought, died and left freedom for you.  Your voice and influence must be counted as indispensable to America, just now.  Voting is never about politics.  It is, always: “[I will] not be overcome by evil, but [I will] overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21.   Further, it is a seed that brings a sure harvest.  Let us climb into our climate controlled, tundra tromping vehicles and head for the polls!
