Our loving mother, Eleanore W. Deaver, age 96 passed away peacefully surrounded by love, on April 11, 2022, in Littleton, Colorado.
Eleanore was born and raised in Bayard, Nebraska by her parents Rose & John Schwartz. She graduated from Bayard High School and Lincoln school of Commerce. In 1944 she moved to Sidney to work at Sioux Army Depot. She met her husband Jim and they were married Aug. 20, 1946. Six children were born to this union: James Jr., Rosellen, Carolyn, Gerilyn, Christine, and Timothy.
She spent most of her adult life as a homemaker on their farm. They moved to town in 1971. She was an active volunteer in many organizations including St. Pat’s School, CCD, Catholic rummage house, Meals on Wheels, WIC, CASA, and 4-H.
After purchasing the NAPA store in 1973 she worked daily with Jim until their retirement. She still made time to attend daily Mass and several bible study groups.
Her love brought so much happiness to all of her family and friends. She loved to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She always made time to play a board game or cards with all of us. She loved to host our family gatherings.
Eleanore is survived by her children: Rosellen (Nick) Keller, Carolyn (Jim) Schmitt, Gerilyn (Rick) Rush, Christine Neal, and Timothy (Kristi) Deaver; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law Norma Jean Schumacher and a host of nieces and nephews.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, son James Jr., grandson Bradley Keller, son-in-law Mike Neal, sister Bernice Leever, and brother Lenard Schwartz.
A Rosary Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday April 22, 2022 with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2:00 both held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney with Fr. C.P. Varghese and Fr. Steven Deaver co-officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.
Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday, April 21st from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign the register book. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s.
