Lady Coyotes Defeat Lady Storm, 67-65

Potter-Dix's Lady Coyote Basketball team ended their season during the

D2-11 Subdistrict Tournament, but had a victory to start off against the Creek Valley Lady Storm.

The teams matched up at South Platte High School on Monday, Feb. 14 for the right to advance to a semi-final game against number one seed South Platte. Creek Valley started strong in the contest, using defensive pressure to keep the Lady coyotes off-balance, and getting inside to score.

At the end of the first period, the Lady Storm led 15-to-10. Both offenses were settled in by the second quarter and started to score, and the teams matched each other point for point.

Creek Valley took a 34-to-30 lead into the halftime intermission. Potter-Dix made adjustments and had a great third quarter, scoring well while their defense held the Lady Storm off the boards, and Potter-Dix had a 52-to-50 lead going into the fourth quarter. The teams battled through the fourth quarter matching scores, and Potter-Dix's two point edge held up, and they came away with a 67-to-65 win. Creek Valley sophomore Ella Whiting had 19 points to lead the Lady Storm in the loss. Creek Valley ended their season with a 2-and-19 record.

Potter-Dix then matched up against South Platte on Tuesday, Feb. 15, and had a big task ahead as they lost to south Platte by 52 points earlier in the season. This meeting turned out to be similar, with South Platte opening a 22-to-7 lead at the end of the first period. The Lady Blue Knights were sharp on offense and their defense smothered the Lady Coyotes, offering very few shot opportunities and generating turnovers. At the halftime break the score was 50-to-9, and the game was effectively over. South Platte cruised through the second half on their way to a 90-to-19 win.
