Marvin Peter DeJong, age 84, of Lodgepole, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 11, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Lion’s Club in Chappell, NE, with Pastors Brent and Shawn DeJong (aka – “The Little Guys”) will be officiating. Burial will be in the Chappell Cemetery just north of Chappell, NE. Friends may stop at the Lion’s Club on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 from 11-2 P.M.

Marvin met the love of his life, Gwendolyn Lorch DeJong at Bible camp and married on
Friday, June 5, 1959 in Spencer, IA. The two remained best of friends and committed in marriage for almost 63 years.
Marvin taught construction trades for over twenty years in Grand Junction, CO before retiring in Lodgepole, NE in 2009. He was a member at Grace Community Fellowship of Chappell, NE. His hope in life and death was in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose death and resurrection provide atonement for all who believe in Him. Marvin was a master woodworker, designing and creating grandfather clocks, woodturnings, furniture, and other fine wood products. He is deeply loved by his family, who appreciate the legacy of his life.
Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gwendolyn (Lorch) DeJong; children, Dave and Lori DeJong, Suzanne and Adam Lail, Todd and Anita DeJong, Marcee and Rick Riggan, Brent and Jodi DeJong, Shawn and Stephanie DeJong; twenty grandchildren and their spouses, thirty great grandchildren; sister Naomi Nelson; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, P.K. and Alice DeJong; brothers, David, Donald, and Stephen; sister, Esther; son-in-law, Larry Marcellis; grandson, Jonathan Riggan; great granddaughter, Julia Steger.
