Dec. 17

The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a potential threat at the Sidney High School. School Officials, the School Resource Officer and a Sidney Police Department Officer were already on scene and responded immediately. A loaded shotgun was located in a vehicle belonging to a student. The vehicle was parked on school property. The student reportedly had the gun out of concern from a recent TikTok message. The weapon was seized and the student was released to parents. Law enforcement is actively investigating the matter.

NSP Car Damaged in Collision With Wildlife

A Nebraska State Patrolman escaped injury when the car he was driving and a deer collided on Highway 30 about seven miles west of Sidney at 5:10 p.m.

The trooper was traveling westbound on Highway 30 near mile marker 51 when the driver saw three deer begin to run across the road. The Trooper was able to miss the first deer but the second deer struck the NSP vehicle near the front left. The deer then flipped and struck the side of the cruiser, damaging the left front fender and both left side doors.
