Raiders Knock Down Two More

The Red Raider Boy’s Basketball team is having a great start to their 2021-22 season so far, with two wins at the Western conference Tournament last week followed up with two big wins over the course of the last week.

Hosting a Chase County Longhorns team looking for the their first win on Friday, the Red Raiders found themselves in an early battle, matching score for score against the Longhorns in the first period.

But the Raiders settled in and worked the ball in the second period, while clamping down on defense, and built a big 37-to-24 lead at the half. Sidney kept up the good work in the second half, again limiting Chase County’s good looks at the hoops while continuing to score. Sidney took the victory 63-to-47 to improve their record to 3-and-1.

On Saturday, the boys traveled to Bayard and were able to get out fast to a four point lead at the end of the first period they would not relinquish, as they continued to outscore the Tigers in every period on their way to a solid 61-to-43 win to move their record to 4-and-1 on the season. Sidney distributed the ball well with three scorers in double-digits in the victory.

Seniors Sawyer Dickman and Wyatt Heckenlively each had 15 points while sophomore Isak Doty dropped 13 points in the win.

Sidney next hosts Alliance on Saturday Dec. 18 at the Cabela’s Athletic Center.
