Lady Warriors Look To Get On Track

Leyton's Lady Warrior Basketball team has had an up and down start to their season, with a close loss to the Kimball Lady Longhorns and then a win over Morrill. The Lady Warriors looked to keep their momentum going against South Platte over the weekend, but the Lady Blue Knights proved to be too much for the Lady Warriors and took the victory, 50-to-33.

South Platte was able to get good looks and jam up the middle in the first quarter to pull ahead with a 10 piont 17-to-7 lead, but Leyton was able to regroup and slow the South Platte scoring while making up some ground in the second period. At 22-to-17 at halftime, the Lady Warriors were in a good position to come back, but both teams played aggressive defense in the third quarter, limiting the scoring and keeping the Lady Warriors from making up too much ground. At 31-to-23 going into the fourth quarter, the Leyton girls would need a scoring burst and a great defensive effort to catch the Lady Blue Knights, but the opposite happened, with South Platte putting up 19 points in the final period to pull away with the 50-to-33 win.

Leyton is at 1-and-2 on the year and get another chance for a win as they host the 1-and-2 Potter -Dix Lady Coyotes on Tuesday.
