Lady Storm Struggles Early

After opening with three straight losses, the Lady Storm Basketball team had two opportunities over the week to get in the win column, but were dominated by a Bayard team then just missed pulling out a win against the Potter-Dix Lady Coyotes.

On Thursday, the Lady Storm hosted Bayard and found themselves behind quickly with the Lady Tiger’s defense limiting shot opportunities while betting their won shots to fall. The strong defense continued into the second period while Bayard kept scoring, leading to a 42-to-10 lead at the half. Creek Valley was only able to manage 10 more points in the second half to bring the final score to 62-to-20. Sophomores Ella whiting and Brenna Isenbart each scored eight points in the loss.

On Friday the Storm traveled to take on rival Potter-Dix, and this game was a battle the whole way though, with neither team getting too big of a lead and defensive play dominating the action. The Creek Valley squad was close at the end, but could not get past the Lady Coyotes, and fell by one point, 36-to-37.

The Creek Valley squad gets another chance to get on the winning track as they face Hay Springs on the road on Thursday.
