Ronald E. Rieken, age 68, of Sidney passed away in Aurora, CO on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Sunrise Memorial service will be held at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at the Big Pasture northwest of Lorenzo off Road 12. Cremation has been held. His ashes will be spread across the land that he loved and nurtured. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Rieken Farm from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the life of a man who impacted more lives than any of us even know.

Ron Rieken, a longtime resident and farmer south of Sidney was an incredible father, grandfather, and friend to so many. He was born to Leonard and Mary Ann Rieken on July 17th, 1953. He grew up on the Homestead with his two brothers Keith and Chris. He then joined the Navy where he served 4 years as an Aviation Support Equipment Tech. stationed at NAS, Miramar. He was honorably discharged and moved back to Sidney, where he has continued to farm for nearly 5 decades. Helping young farmers, friends, and neighbors along the way through generous hospitality has been the hallmark of his life. He will be deeply missed.
Ron is survived by his friend and housekeeper Lindie, brothers Keith and Chris, son Brian (Chandra) of Waxhaw, NC, son Kevin (Toni) of Peetz, CO, grandchildren, Kalin, Isaac, Zack, Kynleigh, Karson, and Malakai, as well as nephews, cousins, and other family. Ron is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann and his father, Leonard.
