In recent years, fall included the announcement of the Bell Pole and Lumber challenge grant in support of Table of Grace.
In October 2020, Bell Pole and Lumber announced a challenge grant where the company would match up to $30,000, and in January of 2021 Table of Grace Director Sherri Eads announced donations surpassed the goal by nearly $10,000.
This year, Bell Pole and Lumber is offering a $20,000 matching grant.
Eads said much of the organization's operating expenses are financed by grants and private funds. Operating expenses total about $75,000.
Table of Grace has a thrift store and food pantry; proceeds from the thrift store supports the food pantry. However, the majority of funding support comes from donations.
Eads said Foodbank for the Heartland statistics show Table of Grace distributed 109,242 pounds of food in 2020, 33,152 pounds more than in 2019. She said that equals about 92,035 meals, up 28,627 meals from the previous year. These statistics reflect food received from Walmart and purchased from Foodbank for the Heartland, she said, and does not include food received from Safeway or purchased from local stores.
Donations can be mailed to Table of Grace, 1444 Jackson St., Sidney, NE 69162, or brought to the store 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The Table of Grace is located at 1125 Alvarado Road, Sidney.
