Great Week for Lady Raiders

Sidney's Lady Raider Volleyball team is finding their rhythm as the season winds down, going 3-and-1 over the last week.

The action started on Thursday when the Lady Raiders traveld to Yuma, Colo., to match up against the Lady Indians. The Lady Raiders started strong and took the first two sets, 25-to12 and 25-to-13.

Yuma was able to regroup and battle back in the third set, and were able to get the last points to take a 25-to-23 set victory. But Sidney got their focus back and took the fourth set 25-to-16 for the 3-to-1 match victory. Outstanding performances in the victory included 6 Service Aces by Rheagan Stanley, 9 kills by Emilee Wieser, 4 blocks by Gabby Fortner, 17 assists by Brynna Ross and 21 digs by Rheagan Stanley.

On Saturday, Sidney traveled up north for the Mitchell Tournament, and started with a straight set victory over Scottsbluff, 25-to-19, 25-to-18. They next faced a very strong 19-win Mitchell Lady Tiger squad, and fell behind early, losing the first set 25-to-14. But Sidney regrouped and fired back, pulling out a 25-to-14 set win of their own to tie the match. The teams battled hard in the third set, but Mitchell was able to grab the final points and took the third set 25-to-23 for the 2-to-1 match victory.

Sidney ended the day with a match against a tough Alliance Lady Bulldogs team, but battled hard and won in straight sets 28-to-26 and 25-to-21.

The Lady Raiders are now 15-and-12 and go into the final part of the season, and were scheduled to match up with the Chadron Lady Cardinals in Sidney on Tuesday.
