Serving proudly since 1873 as the beautiful Nebraska Panhandle's first newspaper
Our country’s collective memory appears to be seriously flawed, so I’m going to take this opportunity to remind us of a couple of very important facts.
The following seems to have been either overlooked or deliberately removed from much of our nation’s educational system. Either way these two quotations should be bright beacons illuminating the seriously misconstrued (outright lying) of the socialistic left wing organizations in America.
In 1815, President James Madison proclaimed, “No people ought to feel greater obligations to celebrate the goodness of the Great Disposer of Events of the Destiny of Nations than the people of the United States… And to the same Divine author of Every Good and Perfect Gift we are indebted for all those privileges and advantages, religious and well as civil, which are so richly enjoyed in this favored land.” – from “The Statutes at Large and Treaties of the Unites States, vol. 11. 1859.
Then 140 years later Herbert Hoover, the 31st president of the United States, said, “Our Founding Fathers built for the United States a government new and different from all the governments of the Old World by three strokes of genius… They enacted a written Constitution… they made a division of powers within the Federal and State governments by separating the Legislative and the Judiciary, and the Executive branches. And they reinforced all this by the declared purpose to establish a government of laws where every citizen was equal before the law.” – Addresses Upon the American Road, page 154, 1955.
In my high school years, these things were discussed at length in both social study and American history classes. Then some years later these studies were removed from the curriculum of many of America’s school systems. Today it will be rare if either of these two remarkably important quotes are ever mentioned! So it is no wonder that the socialist left is able to get away with their lying slanders and misrepresentations of America’s founding.
Years later when our adopted grand daughter attended her senior year (not in Sidney) there were no American Government or American History classes in her high school’s curriculum. Making a reasonable deduction based on that fact and the way most of today’s young people seem to regard our nation, I’m pretty sure those classes have not been taught in the majority of America’s schools for quite some time.
It should be obvious that the “Great Disposer of Events of the Destiny of Nations” referred to by President Madison is none other than God Himself. Madison correctly gives credit to God for being the One who provided all the “privileges and advantages, religious and well as civil, which are so richly enjoyed in this favored land.”
But you reply, “I don’t believe in your god, so these words are discriminatory and should be removed from all literature.” To this I say: You have the freedom to believe or disbelieve anything you want, and so do I. It is this very freedom of belief that enables you to express your disbeliefs, without encroaching on my beliefs. I do not force you to believe what I do, and neither can you force me to follow your disbeliefs. You also do not have the right to falsify the history of the founding of America through the blatant lies contained in the so-called “critical race theory.” (P.S. A theory is something that remains to be proved!)
We need to understand that if men give us our freedoms then men can take them away. And that’s exactly what our current national government is attempting to do, along with several left-wing ruled states.
President Hoover stated clearly that the Founding Fathers “enacted a written Constitution… they made a division of powers within the Federal and State governments by separating the Legislative and the Judiciary, and the Executive branches. And they reinforced all this by the declared purpose to establish a government of laws where every citizen was equal before the law (emphasis is mine).”
These branches of the federal government were to counter-balance each other in order to further insure our basic freedoms and equality before the law.
Today this system is being deliberately torn apart by a power hungry group who are determined to make their agenda of acquiring absolute control over you and I a reality. If they have to destroy our economy to do it they don’t care.
It has now become risky to take a stand against this power hungry movement, but if you and I do not fight back in every legal way possible… then all of the rights and freedoms our forefathers fought for will be flushed down the drain.
It is your choice, which way our nation will go?
