Sidney Cross Tops at Gering Invite

Unusually cool weather made the Gering Cross Country course at Five Rocks Amphitheater a bit easier to navigate but did not change the results, as although it is still early in the season, the Sidney Red Raider Cross Country team is showing to be the best in the Panhandle.

Another win for the boys team and a win for the girls squad highlighted the great effort put out by the Sidney runners. For the boys, senior Cameron Brauer again took first place, his second top finish in as many tries so far this season, to lead the boys to the team win. Sophomore Talissa Tanquary continues to impress, taking first place by a large margin and achieving a personal best time while leading the girls to a first place team finish.

Brauer was challenged by Scottsbluff's Hans Bastron, but was able to pull away in the final kilometer to secure the victory. The victory moves the Sidney Boys team into a first-place tie in Class C with Milford in the NXCCA State Rankings with 117 points, while the Sidney girls moved into fifth place with 58 points.

Sidney next competes at the Chadron State College’s Liberty Bell Invite on Saturday, Sept 11.
