Lady Warriors Breeze Past Longhorns, 3-0

Leyton's Lady Warrior Volleyball team moved their early season record to 3-and-0 with a relatively easy three set victory over visiting Kimball on Tuesday, August 31.

The Lady Longhorns came into the match looking for their first win of the young season, but quickly fell behind in the first set as the Lady Warriors strung together points and kept the visitors scrambling during the 25-to-8 first set win. Kimball regrouped and was able to put together a few good scoring runs in the second set, but Leyton eventually pulled away for the 25-to-14 second set win. In the third set, the teams battled and traded scores, but the Lady Warriors were too much for the Lady Longhorns to overcome, and Leyton took the third set by a score of 25-to-16 for the 3-to-0 match victory.

Leyton senior Cortney Holt and sophomore Trinity Beutler each had eight kills in the match while freshman Sydney Fortune was outstanding on the service line with nine Ace Serves in the match along with 13 assists. Leyton is next scheduled to travel to Hemingford on Thursday to match up against the Lady Bobcats while Kimball looked for their first win of the new season against Bridgeport on Tuesday.
