Creek Valley's Lady Storm Volleyball team opened their season last Monday against the Sutherland Lady Sailors in Sutherland, and dropped their first match 2-to-1. Sutherland opened strong and took the first set by a score of 25-to-14. Creek Valley regrouped and responded with a 25-to-17 win in the second set, but the Lady Sailors were able to battle back and take the deciding set 25-to-16 for the 2-to-1 match victory.
The Lady Storm then faced off against Perkins County, and after dropping the first set 25-to-8, regrouped and took the second set 25-to-21. But Perkins County rallied in the third set for a 25-to-17 win and the 2-to-1 match victory.
On Friday, the volleyball team traveled with the football team to take on the Hay Springs Lady Hawks, and pushed the hosts to five sets. Hay Springs was able to take the first set 25-to-19, but Creek Valley fired back in the second set and took a 25-to-22 second set win.
Hay Springs again won the third set 25-to-17, but Creek Valley again regrouped and took the fourth set 25-to-21. The teams battled through the fifth set, but the Hay Springs team was able to hang on and take the fifth set 16-to-14 for the 3-to-2 match victory.
On Saturday Creek Valley hosted a Triangular meet. Creek Valley started off against Garden County, and a tight first set ended with a run by Garden County to give them the 25-to-17 first set win. Creek Valley tried to recover in the second set, but the Garden County squad was able to hold off the Lady Storm for the 25-to-19 second set win a 2-to-0 match victory.
To end the day, the Lady Storm faced off against a strong South Platte team, and struggled to keep with the visitors, losing the first set 25-to-9. The Lady Storm had a better go in the second set, but could not overcome the Lady Blue Knights, and fell 25-to-17 for the 2-to-0 match loss.
Creek Valley hosts Minatare on Thursday in Chappell.
