Yard Waste Not to be disposed of in Green Receptacles

The City of Sidney Solid Waste Department has been noticing a number of City issued receptacles for household garbage only, with loose yard waste in them. We would like to remind our residents that any sort of yard waste including grass, weeds, garden waste, brush, branches, and leaves are not allowed to be placed inside the City receptacles that are issued strictly for household garbage only. If the Solid Waste Department continues to see yard waste inside City issued receptacles, the containers will not be emptied and a possible fine will be issued.

The City of Sidney Solid Waste Department/Landfill is located at 2232 RD 115 and provides free 24hr access to the compost site where residents can drive in and dispose of their yard waste. The Landfill also provides our residents with the option to sign up for a specific yard waste receptacle, pink in color, to be picked up curbside on Wednesdays. You can call the Solid Waste Department at 308-254-6071 to be set up with that option.

Compost is one of the most valuable resources for preventing waste and saving money.
