Shirlee O. Calahan, age 93, of Sidney, NE joined her heavenly family on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in Sidney. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 19, 2021 in the Light Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sidney, NE with Pastor Mary Jo Dean officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Cremation has taken place. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel to sign Shirlee’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Shirlee was born in McCook, NE on June 22, 1928 to George and Opal Farber. She graduated from McCook High School and was united in marriage to Vincent Calahan on Feb 8, 1948. She was a loving mother to Dan, Rick, Leslie and Jeff.
Vinc and Shirlee settled in Sidney in 1957. She was well known while working at Hardy-Clark Furniture and H & R Block Tax Service. She loved following the activities of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was blessed to have met all of all of them. As an avid bridge player, she made many close friends and spent much time with them having fun.
She is survived by sons, Daniel and wife Linda Calahan, Patrick Calahan, Jeff and wife Karen Calahan, and daughter, Leslie and husband Randy Richards. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren and sisters in law, Eloise Farber and Linda Calahan. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Vinc, her parents George and Opal Farber, parents- in- law, Bill and Mable Calahan, brother, Richard Farber, and daughter-in-law, Mickie Calahan. Shirlee’s presence will be missed by her family and friends.
