Sidney’s American Legion Post 17 Junior team hosted the Sheridan County Regulators on Tuesday, June 1 at Legion Filed, and could not recover from a five run Sheridan first inning to fall by a final score of 10-to-3.
Landon Riddle started on the mound for Sidney, and had a tough time getting outs in the first inning, hitting the first batter he faced then giving up two singles, a double and three walks to give Sheridan County a five run cushion to start the game.
Micah Schneider singled and scored in the bottom of the frame to get Sidney on the scoreboard, but the Regulators got that run back in the next inning, plus another in the fourth inning to maintain their lead.
Sidney fought back with Patrick McCartney singling and scoring in the second inning and Owen Gillham working a walk then scoring in the fourth to keep Sidney close, but Sheridan then put up three runs in the sixth inning to pull away for the 10-to-3 victory.
Gunnar Dorcey led the Sidney offense with two hits and two RBI’s in the loss. Riddle pitched one inning and gave up three hits and four earned runs.

Sidney went down in order in their half of the inning to fall 3-to-2 to the Gering squad. Sidney’s Jakob Meyer had two hits and an RBI in the loss while Ben Hashman pitched four innings, surrendering eight hits and one earned run in the loss.
