Sidney’s Red Raider Track & Field team had another outstanding day on Thursday as they traveled to Ogallala to compete in the annual Ed Moore Invitational. The Sidney boy’s team took first place by a large margin over second place Ogallala while the girl’s team took third place behind runner-up Ogallala and winner Chase County.
For the boys team, freshman Luke Holly took second place in the 100 and 200 Meter sprints, Daniel Bashtovoi won the 800 Meters and 3200 Meters, and Cameron Brauer won the 1600 Meters. Connor Hartzler and Trevor Terrall placed second and third in the 110 Meter Hurdles, and Hartzler also placed second in the 300 Meter Hurdles. The team of Daniel Bashtovoi, Cameron Brauer, Treyson Johnstone and Mitchell Deer won the 4x800 Meter Relay. Sawyer Dickman won the High Jump and Jacob Dowse placed third, while Cam Leeling and Damien Beatson placed fourth and sixth in the Long Jump. Luke Holly and Sawyer Dickman placed second and third in the Triple Jump for the Raiders.
For the girls, Talissa Tanquary placed second in the 400 Meters and 800 Meters, and Morgan Jaggers won the 1600 Meters and placed third in the 800 Meters. Karly Sylvester won the Shot Put and Discus by big margins, and Karsyn Leeling placed third in the High Jump and Logan Holly placed second in the Long Jump for the Lady Raiders.
Sidney is back in action on Thursday afternoon at the Mitchell Invite at Mitchell High School.
