Falls to Prairie 82-49
Peetz’s Bulldog Basketball team had four straight road games over the last week, winning one and losing three to move their season record to 4-and-9.
On Thursday February 25, the Bulldogs traveled to New Raymer to face the Prairie Mustangs, and the home team was able to break out early and build an 18-to-9 lead at the end of the first period. The Bulldogs fought back and matched the Mustang’s scoring in the second quarter, but trailed at the half 36-to-25. Prairie came out of the intermission firing on offense and continued to outscore the Bulldogs through the second half, earning an 82-to-49 victory. Peetz senior Nolan Hill had 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists to lead the Bulldogs in the loss.
On Friday February 26, Peetz traveled to Otis and had their offense clicking from the start, building up a 33-to-22 lead at halftime. Peetz had a rough third quarter and were outscored by the home team, but the Peetz team was able to match Otis’ scoring through the fourth quarter and came away with a 56-to-51 victory. Senior Aiden Curtis led Peetz with 22 points while Hill had 16 rebounds and five assists in the victory.
Peetz then traveled on Thursday, March 4 to match up with the Akron Rams, and the Bulldogs battled through a tight contest the whole way before falling 43-to-41. Hill led the scoring with 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds in the loss. Peetz finished up their COVID-shortened season with a loss on the road against the Merino Rams by a final score of 67-to-34.
The Lady Bulldogs finished their season winless, losing to Prairie 53-to-16, Otis 59-to-30, Akron 59-to-13 and Merino 48-to-7. The young Lady Bulldog squad weren’t able to break through for any wins, but gained valuable experience and playing time that will improve the team in the coming seasons.
