Coyotes Sweep Bulldogs In Potter

Potter-Dix’s Coyote Basketball teams hosted the Peetz Bulldogs on a frigid night on Tuesday, but it was more likely the Bulldog’s delayed start to the season that caused the cold shooting of the visitors rather than the weather.

The girls’ teams matched up first, and the Lady Bulldogs were just what the Lady Coyotes needed to earn their first win of the year over a team other than Creek Valley. The Lady Coyotes built a lead and continued to pull away, playing good aggressive defense and limiting their turnovers. The Peetz squad struggled to score, and the action continued into the second half with Potter-Dix able to build a sizable lead and get all of their athletes quality playing time. The game ended in a convincing 51-to-25 victory for Potter-Dix.

For the boy’s game, the Coyotes came out fast, building a 10 point lead at the end of the first quarter, followed by a 29 point explosion in the second quarter. The Coyotes led at the half 47-to-8 at the half, with all eight of Peetz’s points coming in the first quarter. With the running clock enacted, the Coyotes coasted the rest of the way, putting up an additional 16 points in the second half to end the game by a final score of 63-to-19. Sophomore Luke Kasten led the scoring for Potter-Dix with 25 points, while freshman Brayden Kasten went 6-for-7 from the field for 14 points in the victory. The Coyote teams were scheduled to host Leyton Monday night.
