Leyton Warriors Sweep Creek Valley Storm

On Friday night, Leyton’s Warrior Basketball teams traveled to Chappell to match up against the Creek Valley Storm, and both Warrior teams came away with wins on the night. The action started with the girls’ teams facing off, and after a low scoring 5-to-4 first quarter, the Lady Warriors broke out for a 15-to-6 second quarter to give them a 20-to-10 lead at the intermission. Creek Valley battled back with a strong showing in the third quarter, but it was not enough as Leyton held on through the fourth period to earn the 41-to-31 victory and improve their record to 7-and-9 on the season while the Lady Storm fell to 2-and-14 on the year.

In the boy’s match-up, Creek Valley started strong, holding down the Leyton offense to open an 11-to-3 first quarter advantage. But Leyton battled back with a big second quarter to take a 17-to-16 lead at the halftime break. Leyton followed with a strong third quarter, and the team’s traded scores through the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough for the Storm to overcome the Warrior’s lead, and Leyton took the victory by a final score of 44-to-35, improving their season record to 6-and-8, while Creek Valley fell to 4-and-14 on the year.

Creek Valley was scheduled to travel to Perkins County on Tuesday and then to South Platte on Friday. While the Leyton squads were scheduled to travel to Bayard on Tuesday then to Garden County on Friday.
