Florine M. Elias

Florine Mae Elias, age 86, of Sidney, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 in Sidney, NE.

Graveside services was held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 20, 2020 in Sidney, NE in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney.

Friends were welcomed at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Thursday from 1-6:00 P.M. to sign Florine’s register book and leave condolences for the family. Family will be present from 5-6:00 P.M. A Memorial Mass service will be held at a future date.

Florine, the daughter of John B and Mary (Hamburg) Bauer was born on August 18, 1934 in Scottsbluff, NE. Her family moved to Sunol in 1946 where she attended and graduated from Sunol High School in 1952. On April 26, 1953, she married Henry Elias at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney, NE. She then attended Beauty School to become a licensed hair stylist, all while raising her two young girls. Florine owned her own beauty shop where she loved styling her client’s hair and working with her co-workers. 

Florine really loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Early on, Florine and Hank enjoyed going to the dances and socializing with their many friends. She was a member of the Women’s Investment Club in Sidney for many years. Florine enjoyed listening to country music and was a great reader. She was a big animal lover and adored the companionship of her many pets throughout the years, especially her most recent little Jazzy.

Survivors include her daughters Cynthia Talich and her husband Brent of Sidney, NE and Ramona Bessler and her husband Michael of Jansen, NE; four grandchildren, Misty Talich of Sidney, NE, Shawna Marx of Sidney, NE, Michelle Gonderinger and her husband Ryan of Nehawka, NE, and Adam Bessler and his wife Brittany of Pickrell, NE; and 6 great grandchildren, Paxton, Tesla, Bridger, Austin, Logan, and Kinsley and numerous extended family members and friends.

Florine was preceded in death by her husband Henry; parents, John and Mary Bauer; sisters and brothers, Edna (Bauer) Jake Betzold, Dorothy (Bauer) and husband Ray Smith, John Bauer Jr and wife Mary, Vic Bauer and wife Dorothy, Roy Bauer and wife Lora, Gladys (Bauer) and her husband, Wayne Adams and numerous extended family members.
