October Students of the Month

Students of the Month for October are:

7th grade: Alek Doty. Alek Doty has an intense desire to accomplish the goals he sets for himself. He works well individually and understands the the value of teamwork. Alek is respectful and considerate when encouraging others to do and be their best. Alek has a quiet strength that inspires others to believe in themselves. He is actively involved in football, basketball, track and SMS Spirt Club, all while maintaining straight As in the classroom. He is the son of Jay and Korrina Doty.

8th grade: Samara Warnick. The 8th grade teachers at Sidney Middle School would like to recognize Samara Warnick as the October 2020 Students of the Month. Samara is a diligent student who consistently gives her best effort to the lessons being taught and discussions being had in the classroom. She also shows respect for her teachers and peers, has responsibility and priority for her homework and learning time, and exhibits commitment to being the best she can be. Samar has overcome some obstacles in her life to be standing where she is today, and we could not be more proud of her and the path she is on at this time.

9th grade: Payton Schrotberger. She is an extremely intelligent student. Even more important is the energy she brings to class each day. Payton is positive, enthusiastic, and willing day in and day out of the learning process. She always puts forth her best effort with assignments and group work. Payton is the type of student who encourages and inspires those around her to be and do better. This is her way both in and out of the classroom. Volleyball coaches have seen firsthand Payton’s coachability and leadership. She is the first one to help shag balls during varsity volleyball matches. This reflects what is seen in the classroom, as Payton is often the first to volunteer to answer a question or complete an activity. She is an all-around person.

10th grade: Krish Ganesan. He was nominated because of his academic excellence, classroom effort/attitude, leadership/service/citizenship. Krish goes above and beyond in everything he does. He works hard and helps others whenever possible. He does tutoring for students in need, is a member of Science Club, DECA, and the Speech Team. He enjoys reading mystery novels and plans on attending a university after high school graduation.

11th grade: Jakob Chacon. Jakob was nominated because of his classroom effort and excellent attitude. He has made great strides in the classroom and out. He pushes himself to do his best. He has been involved in JTOH and basketball. Jakob works at Sam and Louie’s and has been working for them for a year and a half. He would like to become a chef or a barber after high school graduation.

12th grade: Gurman Cheema. She was selected because of her academic performance and classroom effort. Gurman has done a great job working hard in Chemistry II. She has a great attitude toward learning. She always works hard and pushes herself to do her best.
